“Being Enough” What does that mean?
“Being Enough”, what does that mean?
That is a big life question and the answer is different for everyone. I am addressing this question through an archetypal lens. “Not enough” is an expression of victim consciousness. It is one of the most common expressions that we experience in some form every day. The news, social media posts, marketing posts and ads focus on lack. Every day we are inundated with messages that we are not enough. We need this____ to be_____.
There appears to be very few messages that focus on how we are enough, just as we are. If these messages are shared and if they are coming from truth, they will be expressed by individuals who have high self-esteem and know that they are enough. They are not living from victim consciousness. They won’t be trying to prove they are enough. They will be living being enough!
I hear many individuals express that they love themselves unconditionally and they believe they are enough. Unconsciously they are living out the opposite. How do I know? Their language tells me the unconscious story. There is a story being lived out unconsciously and their unconscious beliefs are not congruent with the story they want to believe about themselves. When life is going smoothly they can pull it off. When there is a crisis or when they feel vulnerable and don’t feel safe, the unconscious story will be in the drivers seat.
Being enough can’t be taught. It can be demonstrated by individuals who live it, but, no one can teach you how to be enough. They can teach you the process of aligning with being enough. They can support you in your process. They can guide you through your process but you have to embrace the process and align with being enough by living it.
Being enough is a process of becoming aware of the stories, patterns and beliefs that have become your “not enough” identity. When you are stuck in the story of not being enough, you just want the pain to go away. When you observe others living out the same or similar patterns and stories, you want them to change so you don’t have to be reminded of them. The only medicine for this pain is to unstick from your story. When you own the story, you can identify the patterns and the beliefs that are expressing through you. You can identify the emotions attached to the stories and beliefs and embrace them as part of your life experience knowing that they are not your identity. You are taking your power back from the story of not being enough and you now know you are enough. Now you have unlimited possibility for your life because you are no longer living from victim consciousness, from lack, instead, you are now living creation consciousness. You are free!
A practice
As you identify where you believe you are not enough, it can be overwhelming and you have the potential to spiral deeply into the not enough pattern where it is all you are seeing in yourself. This is simply how the ego functions. It is important to create a list of all the places you show up and feel enough in your life. You are empowering yourself when you begin this process knowing you are already enough in some areas of your life. The other important tip is to be the observer as you work through your process. You are observing these stories, patterns and beliefs. They are not your identity.
