Optimism Bias vs Confirmation Bias

There are two unconscious biases that shape the way we think. They impede us from being our potential. They are survival programs that limit us and give us the perception of being safe.

1) Optimism Bias engages when our mind over inflates our skills, our knowledge on a subject and self-awareness etc. It is a protection mechanism allowing us to believe that we are enough.

2) Confirmation Bias is activated when we take in information that supports our self-perceived weaknesses. This affirms our stories about ourselves.

These two programs are running at the same time. They contribute to us feeling like we are repeating the same patterns over and over in our lives. We put energy into making changes but it doesn't work.
Awareness of how these two biases play out in your life is the first step. Both of these biases are rooted in victim consciousness. The pattern that is being expressed is ‘not enough’. By making the connections between your stories, the expressions of the ‘not enough’ pattern and the related emotions you are taking steps to free yourself. This is empowering!
