Freeing Self from Fear and Overwhelm
What if the unconscious patterns that are the core of your intergenerational stories are keeping you stuck? How would your life change, if you knew you have the power to free yourself?
There are four archetypal survival patterns: Child, Prostitute, Victim and Saboteur. When you can understand how these patterns express through you and influence the way you engage in life, you will become more aware of your relationship with power. You will gain more awareness of who and what you are giving your power to, and how you may be taking power from others. These four archetypal patterns are the core of the patriarchal story which shapes how you view yourself and how you engage with life every day.
How can I learn to be aware of these patterns in my everyday life?
Archetypal awareness can be learned if you are willing to commit to the process. Some individuals’ brains are wired to see patterns and to see the world around them symbolically. If you are not that way inclined, it is okay. You can learn. The survival archetypal patterns are the perfect ones to start with as they are present in all human beings. The first step is to learn about them. You can find resources here, Once you have some basic knowledge of the four survival patterns, the next step is to observe.
You can begin by observing them in people around you. It is akin to watching a stage play and observing how the patterns engage with each other and support each other. It is easy to observe others as it is not personal. The challenge is not to judge. Your practice is just to observe.
Once you have an awareness of how these patterns express themselves and engage, the next step is to observe yourself and notice the patterns and how they play out in your everyday life. It is important to not judge. I encourage you to give yourself 15 minutes at the end of the day to reflect on what you observed about your relationship with these patterns and how they are impacting your relationship with power. If keeping a journal appeals to you, it can be useful as it allows you to go back and see how your self-awareness has grown. My journals have proved to be invaluable to me. The deep insights that I may forget are recorded in my journals and at times they have been the inspiration needed to make a major breakthrough in my healing journey. It is very empowering when your own journey becomes your inspiration to keep going. Once you have an understanding of how these patterns are expressing through you and how they are influencing the way you engage with life, then you are ready to go deeper. These patterns are present in most of the intergenerational stories. You take your power back from these stories by becoming aware of how you are giving your power to them and then changing your behavior. When you are able to make choices from a place of power versus a place of fear then you experience transformation. You then have the power to create and live from a new story—a story rooted in your empowerment.
“ I have long believed that it is impossible for us to know who we truly are unless we understand archetypes because archetypes are the psychic lenses through which we view ourselves and the world around us.” Caroline Myss
