Archetypes Everywhere
I took this photo while in France in September 2017. I love it as it is symbolic of my work with the archetypes. This was taken in a cloister and there was a plethora of arches and doorways with a lovely green space in the center. Every arch and every doorway revealed a hidden realm. The arches are akin to the archetypes. Each archetype is a doorway into a hidden realm of unconscious beliefs and stories that run our life.
When we understand the relationship between the four survival archetypes and the wounds they are protecting, we better understand our relationship with ourselves and it changes the way we interact with others. For example, one of my patterns was prostituting myself by engaging in a verbal power struggle where I would sabotage myself and leave the engagement feeling powerless. This action supported my victim story of being powerless to help myself. I learned there was no need for me to give my power to another, the issue can always be resolved, with needs met for both involved when we understand the patterns we are engaging with. That was truly empowering and changed my life in many ways.
To quote my teacher, Caroline Myss, “Archetypes are the new language of power and the key to our personal power”.
